How to play Letterbolt
Letterbolt is a race against the clock to find words in one rack of letters. Here is how a race works, how scoring works, and how to push your best.
The aim
You get a rack of scrambled letters and 90 seconds. Make as many valid words from those letters as you can before time runs out.
A race, step by step
- Read your rack. Shuffle it at any time to see the words hiding in plain sight.
- Tap or swipe letters to build a word, then submit it.
- Keep going until the clock stops.
- Review your score, best combo, longest word, and every word you left on the rack.
Scoring
- Every valid word scores, and longer words are worth more.
- Submit words within five seconds of each other to build a combo, up to triple points. Lose the rhythm and it resets.
- Use every letter in the rack in one word for a 500-point pangram bonus.
Quick Rush and Daily Rush
Quick Rush is a 90-second race you can play as often as you like. Daily Rush is one shared puzzle a day, the same letters for every player, scored on the server so results are fair.
Tips
- Start with short words to get the combo going, then hunt for long ones.
- Look for common endings like -ED, -ER and -ING, and plurals with S.
- Shuffle when you stall. A new arrangement often shows a word you missed.
- Always check for the pangram: it is worth more than most racks of short words.
